"Contentment (小笑)” focuses on moments of comfort and healing found by turning away from external attention and focusing fully on oneself. The work consists of tea tableware inspired by the monoclinic and asymmetrical hexagonal structures of sugar crystals. Forms discovered within these microscopic structures are reinterpreted and translated into sculptural objects. Through this process, the work seeks to draw attention to inner emotions that are easily overlooked and to express the quiet act of taking time to care for oneself. By stripping away the complex conventions and procedures of traditional tea rituals, the work proposes a simpler experience: enjoying a sip of one’s chosen drink and a single bite of dessert without prescribed rules. Through these small, everyday acts, “Contentment (小笑)” invites us to step away from the hunger we often try to satisfy through external stimulation, listen to our own emotions, and rediscover a sense of inner calm.
