The city I see through the airplane window was once a place where people lived busy and intense lives. But as I move farther away and the city becomes smaller, or perhaps simply because I know I am leaving, it no longer seems busy or intense. Instead, it feels almost still, as if I can no longer see any movement. The roads and buildings, each holding their own vast stories and memories, become nothing more than a complex arrangement of cubes when seen from above. I began to wonder if many things we encounter in life are like this. Sometimes the things right in front of us can feel overwhelming and enormous, but when we step away and look at them from a distance, they can suddenly feel much less significant. I wanted to record this feeling by recreating the scene I experienced while looking out the airplane window as I was leaving.
