Corolla Series

2026 White clay 140×140×50(mm)

A flower does not exist as a single, fixed form. As a bud opens, its petals unfold, reaching a moment of fullness before gradually drying and withering, it continuously transforms its appearance. Within this process of change, I am interested not in any particular moment, but in the way a living being alters its form over time. The "Corolla Series" begins with the forms of flowers and the process of their blooming and fading. I translate the organic structures of petals and sepals—their overlapping and unfolding—into the forms of vessels. Rather than directly reproducing the appearance of nature, I reinterpret the curves, repetition, expansion, and contraction found in flowers through the language of clay. The glazes that cover the surfaces also become part of this process of transformation. During firing, the glaze melts and flows, pooling in recessed areas, spreading into one another, and sinking into the surface. The variations of gloss and matte, as well as the gradations and flows of color that emerge across a single surface, are not entirely controlled forms of decoration, but rather the results left behind by fire, gravity, and the inherent properties of the material. Like a flower that continually changes as it blooms and declines, these traces create different expressions of time within a single vessel. Through the *Corolla Series*, I seek not to reproduce the completed form of a flower, but to allow the passage of life—the time of blooming, transformation, and eventual disappearance—to remain within a single form and surface.
