Sensing

2026 Mixed clay body, FRP 570×450×820(mm), varies by work

My practice begins with wandering without a set destination, observing and collecting things that catch my attention along the way. Elements gathered from different places are removed from their original contexts, connected, and reconfigured. This process of observation and reconstruction recurs throughout my practice. / In Sensing, this approach extends to the body. I shift my attention across the body, focusing on sensations that become pronounced in particular areas. When the body curls and folds, I notice the stretching of the armpits, the contours of the ribs and spine, and the texture of bones felt beneath the skin. I isolate and examine these parts as they come into awareness. Once identified, they are removed from their original positions and proportions, transformed, and joined with other parts to form new configurations. / Sensing is the act of experiencing what I observe anew by directly engaging with it through a repeated process of wandering, separating, and connecting.
